To turn the climate crisis around, we need to change business as usual. Putting a price on carbon will help.
Yoram Bauman is a funny “Stand Up Economist” who advocates adoption of a revenue neutral carbon tax to help solve the climate crisis. A free soup, salad and bread lunch will be included in this Climate Action Luncheon program. All denominations are welcome.
PhD Yoram Bauman’s stated goals are “to spread joy through the world through economic comedy,” as well as to “implement carbon pricing…through a revenue neutral tax shift involving lower taxes on things we like (working, saving, investing) and higher taxes on things we don’t like (e.g. carbon). “ Bauman was involved in creating and promoting the current revenue neutral carbon tax in British Columbia, and he states:
”…Just about all economists think that putting a price on carbon…is necessary if not sufficient in tackling climate change.”
Reservations are not necessary, but advanced RSVP is suggested to: court.olson@yahoo.com. Also, on this same Sunday the morning worship services at 9:30 and 11:00 am will cover “Getting Real with Ourselves and Doing Something About It [the Climate Crisis]. Please see the separately posted details for that worship service event.
