Energy Crossroads: A Community Forum

The clean energy revolution is ON, here and now. Join us to learn, share, and vision together.

People have mobilized in huge numbers to oppose expansion of fossil fuel development and traffic through communities in Skagit County. Proponents of these projects would have us believe that deepening our dependence on fossil fuels is the only way to run our economy, despite the devastating local and global impacts. But there’s a better way forward, an equitable shift to the clean energy economy.

Cleaner energy and transportation options are becoming cheaper and more widely available every day. Coal-fired power plants are retiring. We’re using energy more efficiently and developing solar power and wind energy to replace fossil fuels for electricity. As batteries and electric vehicles improve, we’ll be able to use clean electricity for transportation instead of siphoning our local economies to pay oil companies for gasoline. We’re keeping more of our energy dollars at home – wasting less and investing in our buildings, communities, and local resources. As we increase local control of our energy system, we can take our energy dollars back, using them to invest in healthier communities, good local jobs, a stronger democracy, and a brighter future.

We stand at the crossroads now. We can show that increased investment and dependence on fossil fuels is as unnecessary as it is unacceptable. We can wage and win a clean energy revolution – the best and only viable future for our kids. Join us.
