Join us for worship this Sunday as we kick-off our own participation in “Faith Climate Action Week.” This worship service is designed by our church’s Green Team to highlight awareness and action on issues of climate change and the environment. During the sermon time, we will engage in a congregational exercise inspired by the book Active Hope, by Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone–“A Letter from Gaia.”
TRY THIS: A LETTER FROM GAIA*
If the Earth could speak to us, what would it say? We can take a step toward finding out by imagining the Earth can write through us.
On a blank sheet of paper, start a letter to ourselves that begins:
“Dear [insert your name]:
This is your mother Gaia writing…”
Continue the letter with whatever words come naturally; let your hand do the writing, don’t think about it too much, and just let the words flow. If you would prefer to start this letter using different words (e.g., Earth, Cosmos, Creation, Universe), please do so.
