Join us for “Going Solar: Houses of Worship & Nonprofits,” on Sunday, April 23, at Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha). This program will include a panel discussion featuring people with experience implementing solar power at their facilities as well as solar energy advocates. Speakers will discuss the economic and environmental benefits of going solar, tasks that need to be completed to implement solar and hurdles you might encounter.
Panelists include: Genie Maybanks of Iowa Solar Energy Trade Association, David Gustafson from I-Renew, Steve Guyer of the Iowa Environmental Council, and representatives from Linn Energy District and Eagle Point Solar. Following the panel discussion, we are invited to visit individually with the speakers. Additional resources will be available about solar power and other ways faith communities and nonprofits can reduce their footprint. For those who are interested, David Gustafson of I-Renew will be available to show participants the solar energy system and training facilities located at Prairiewoods.
This event is sponsored by Prairiewoods, Iowa Solar Energy Trade Association, I-Renew, Linn Energy District, Iowa Environmental Council and Iowa Interfaith Power & Light. It is being organized as part of Faith Climate Action Week, sponsored nationally by Interfaith Power & Light. This event is free and open to the public. Free parking is available at Prairiewoods, and carpooling is encouraged. For more information or to register, contact Prairiewoods at www.Prairiewoods.org or 319-395-6700.
