Indigenous Sovereignty: Bodies, Water, Land, Sky, and Scholarship

Please join the Pacific Lutheran University community for our 2016 Earth Day Celebration. Our speaker is Dr. Alexandria Wilson, who is Neyonawak Inniwak from the Opaskwayak Cree Nation, and an Associate Professor at the University of Saskatchewan where she is the Academic Director of the Aboriginal Education Research Centre.

Dr. Wilson has conducted important research on gender, sexuality, and education among indigenous peoples, and she is an expert on empowering, land-based educational systems. She is also an organizer in Idle No More, a grassroots movement to protect land and water by honoring the sovereignty of indigenous peoples. Her lecture will draw upon this expertise to explore the intersections between indigenous cultures and the places they defend.
