It’s February 4th. The daffodils are up at North Decatur Presbyterian Church in Georgia.
Everywhere, across the world, man-made global warming is changing the world we live in. Often, it is for the worse. What can a local church do? What can one family, one person do? As much as we can–we have no other choice.
This Sunday, we welcome the Rev. Kate McGregor-Mosley to the pulpit. Rev. McGregor-Mosley is the Director of Congregational Support for Georgia Interfaith Power and Light, one of the most dynamic and effective environmental organizations in the southeastern United States. Together, during worship, we will hear God’s life-saving word and focus our attention and energy on the theological and practical imperative for all people to take care of God’s creation.
After worship, you are invited to a “Lunch and Learn” with Courtney Hanson, Public Outreach Director for Georgia WAND. Courtney is also a lead organizer for GeorgiaWAND’s environmental justice campaign and coordinates community and partner organizations to move the work. Courtney collaborated with community partners to found Stop Plant Vogtle, a growing action network organizing to stop the first two new nuclear reactors in the U.S. in 30 years. Lunch is by voluntary donation.
- Church School for all ages (and we mean ALL ages) begins at 9:30am.
- Worship begins at 11am.
- Lunch and Learn takes place from 12:30-1:30pm.
All are welcome, especially if it’s your first time visiting.
