St. Benedict’s Earthcare invites you to a talk and video presentation on moving from a society based on consumption and trash to one of zero waste.

Quick fact: In 2013, Americans generated about 254 million tons of trash and recycled and composted about 87 million tons of this material, equivalent to a 34.3 percent recycling rate. On average, we recycled and composted 1.51 pounds of our individual waste generation of 4.40 pounds per person per day. (From the EPA)

Learn how we can take the next step in using natural resources more wisely, while moving toward zero waste. You’ll leave with a new perspective on what to throw away after seeing this thought-provoking presentation.

Mike di Milo, Education Program Coordinator for the SLO County Integrated Waste Management Authority will provide a slideshow, “The Road to Zero Waste” with Q & A, followed by an informative video: “The Story of Stuff.” Not sure if you can recycle it? Bring it along and we’ll find out.

This is an open meeting – please invite your friends!

Quick fact 2 – in 2017 the Abundance Shop processed 10-12000 bags of clothing and household items, saving at least 240 tons of material from gong to the landfill.
