Add your number of trees planted to the grand tally of trees being planted by congregations across the nation as part of Faith Climate Action Week.

Form to report trees planted goes here

Let’s joyfully plant and care for trees to show our love for one another and our common home. You can report trees here that you have planted at your home, at your congregation, or if you purchased trees to be planted elsewhere.

A $5 donation to IPL’s Carbon Covenant program will plant and protect trees in the Global South.

Post a picture of your tree planting to social media with #forloveoftrees @interfaithpowerandlight

When we plant trees, we plant the seeds of peace and seeds of hope.
Wangari Matthai

Trees are the best way to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and put it back into the earth where it contributes to the health of the soil.

Trees breathe in carbon dioxide, and breathe out oxygen that we need to live.

The cutting down and burning of trees releases huge amounts of stored carbon into the atmosphere contributing to climate change. The Amazon forest is being burned to make room for cattle ranches to make our hamburgers. The devastating wildfires in our own country contribute to climate change.

The loss of trees is an environmental justice problem: Around the world Indigenous people and animals that live in the forest are losing their homes, livelihoods, and all that sustains them. The Southern United States forests are logged at four times the rate of the Amazon with much of it being made into wood pellets shipped to other countries to burn to make electricity. The destruction of Southern forests causes human and environmental health problems, especially for low-income and communities of color.

Thank you for planting and protecting trees!
